News and Such

Not ALL of my April was bad.  Most of it was bad – one thing I didn’t post about was the loss of my Boo kitty while we were in Colorado last month.  My sweet Toby had a massive stroke or heart attack on our bed while we were away.  He died in his sleep.  It really rattled my Mom, and broke my heart.  But we are learning to adjust with just one kitty, and our dog.

In other exciting news, I became a great Aunt again not once, not twice, but THREE times last month!  All boys!  Our nephew and his beautiful wife were the first two welcome in their little guy – about a week before my Father-in-Law passed away.  They actually brought him to the funeral and he slept through it.  He was gorgeous.  While their older daughter is the spitting image of her dad (and by rights, my brother-in-law), the little one looks like his Momma.  He’s beautiful.  They named him Sawyer.  So sweet.

Then, two weeks ago, my middle niece had her first – a beautiful little boy who looks just like his mom did when she was born.  Head full of dark hair and his uncle’s nose.

Then, just two days later, our niece (the sister to the nephew above who welcomed number 2!) had her little boy!  He was a few weeks early, but a nice size and just sweet looking.  Hopefully we’ll get to meet him when we go out next month.  As of our last communication with my brother and sister-in-law, he hadn’t yet been named.  I must text my sister-in-law to find out what she decided on.

And, believe it or not, we have ONE more great nephew due any day.  My husband’s sister’s daughter is due any minute with her 5th little boy!!

It’s raining boys!

My respiratory illness is getting much better.  Still fighting bronchitis (and I will for months), but other than that, feeling better.  Just tired.  I have two more days on the thrush meds.  Finished with the inhaler, and I’m taking the cough medicine at night only if I need it.

One thing I have noticed with this round of bronchitis is that I’ll need to get this hernia taken care of sooner rather than later.  I could feel it bulging this weekend every time I coughed.  I can deal with it until I see my oncologist again in October, I think.  I’ll have someone on his team take care of it seeing as how I have adhesion and scar tissue in there thanks to the radiation, chemo and multiple surgeries.  The hernia is right at the top of my hysterectomy scar.  Dr. Rao looked at it last month when I saw him for my six month check.  He wants someone from his team to take care of it instead of a general surgeon.  I’m good with that.

I spoke with my mother-in-law yesterday, and she is doing better – getting by day to day.  She misses Chuck (naturally), but she’s getting through.  I had no doubt – she’s a strong woman.  We are getting ready to go see her again in just a couple of weeks.

Here is hoping May is a better month!
