Holy Busy Batman!

Seriously, I need a weekend to not do ANYTHING at all. Sigh.

My niece finally came out of the preggo closet the week of the 11th. She’s 22 weeks. She sent me a picture of Peanut yesterday, waving at the ultrasound. All together now…AWWWW

I’m in love.

So, my sister and I are planning a shower for her. We were planning for November – before Sarah got too uncomfortable to enjoy herself, and before the weather hit the fan. We ended up deciding to have it an an Agricultural Museum in Dover, DE.  Their rates are cheapo, and it’s kind of cool there.  I called and asked about November.

Totally booked.

But they had an opening October 4th.  Holy Schmoly.  We’ll take it.  $100 for the room.  YAY  Except not yay, because now everything is in hyperdrive.  LOL

I ordered the invitations and was going to print them myself until my personal laptop (not my work one) crapped out this morning.  It is only a year old.  Sigh.  I will have to take them to Kinkos or the UPS store.  Sigh.  I’m trying to get the local bakery to call me back about a cake estimate but they won’t.  So I may have to go with the bakery who did call me with an estimate ($155!!!).  Annoyed.

And, I’m knitting gifts for the baby.  I have a pair of booties done.  I just finished a sweater last night.  I want to make a hat and booties to go with that.  Also, a baby blanket.  The blanket has priority of the booties and hat.  But I need to get to knitting on that blanket.  Yikes.

On top of that, we are going away this weekend for Labor Day as our last Beach Huzzah.  That craps out three days that I can just relax, because pool, parties, labor day brunch, and driving home.  Next week is a blur of work, next weekend I’m helping my bestie (and I am excited to see her), the weekend after that is shower planning…the weekend after that my birthday…and then we have to plan for our anniversary, and my husband’s birthday, and the shower in the middle of it all.

I need a nap just reading it all.

Plus, work is going to be hella busy the next couple of months.  Yay.

The month of September is full of doctor appointments.  September 8th, I have to go to Baltimore to see my gastrointerolocial oncologist (say that five times fast…it took me 10 minutes to spell it),  The 9th, I have to see the orthopaedist.  And get blood work.  The 11th, I see my primary care to talk about my thyroid and anemia.  The 21st, I see my regular oncologist.

Which reminds me, I really need to start using those damned dialators again.

So busy.

If you are in the good old US of A, please have a safe and happy Labor Day.

See you soon!

Two Years

It has been two years since my diagnosis.  Stage 3 2C endometrial cancer.  Spread to my lymph nodes.  Total hysterectomy.

I have been cancer free for 2 years today.  They removed the cancer when they did the hysterectomy.  I still had to go through treatments, but I was cancer free.

They got it all.

Every day I get closer to being cured.  Every day.

Two years.  And counting.

It’s Been Quite A Busy Couple of Weeks

I told you that I have been busy traveling for work. Last week, I spent a week in Jacksonville, FL. It is miserablely hot there, and there are lizards running around, and I worked my butt off. But, I got to spend some quality time with my nephew, and that was wonderful. He met me at the airport with a big old care package of fruit and goodies, and toilet paper because we have particular hineys. We went out to dinner twice. What saddened me was that he said he didn’t remember much about his mom. He was 10 when my sister passed away. I tried to talk about her, and tell him some funny stories. I know what it is like to lose a parent at a young age, so I understand what he is going through.

I got back from my trip on Friday, and we had a busy weekend. Then it was back to work for me. Yay. It has been really busy, because the exam I worked on in FL is still going on, and I’m still repsonsible for it, but I”m doing it from here instead of Kansas City, MO (where they are this week). Busy busy busy.

Bob is DJing a wedding this weekend, and the bride has Amish ties. I am going with him. Should be interesting.

In other news, I see that Jill (Duggar) Dillard is knocked up. They just got married two months ago, and she’s already knocked up. That stings a bit, since I still can’t have ANY. Wonder if she’ll pop out 80 gazillion like her mother. Sigh.

Oh well, that is all.

Lani Bug

Two years ago yesterday, I had just found out I had “pre-cancerous”cells and I needed a total hysterectomy.  My hubby and I had just decided to try for a baby.  Funny how fate works, isn’t it?

So on one of my saddest days, one of the best things happened.  My step-daughter called to say she was in labor.  Later that night, my wee Alani was born.  She was my hope and my strength.

Yesterday, my little Lani-bug turned 2.  I cannot believe my wee grandbaby is growing up so!!

Happy birthday to my Lani-belle!  Grammies loves you so!

Sometimes You Just Wanna Bang Your Head Against A Wall

Yesterday, I had a doctor’s appointment with my primary care. No big deal – I go every few months to monitor my blood work and my blood sugars. Even though my diabetes is in remission, it still needs to be monitored.  Plus, I’ve been having shaking spells, and my wrist was wonky.

So, my bloodwork for my diabetes and cholesterol were great.  HGBA1C was under 6 despite the round I went with steriods; and my total cholesterol was 138.  LDL was within normal numbers and my HDL was over 60 something.  YAY!

However, I’m still anemic.  Have been since I had RNY.  I had always attributed it to my B12 or iron, except when I had cancer.  My doctor yesterday said my anemia was not related to iron levels (which were fine); nor were they related to B12 (also fine).  *worry*  Now, I just had a scan in May and was “all clear” so…

The doctor also indicated that my TSH numbers (your thyroid hormones) were on the high side.  Actually, the way high side.

Now, this doesn’t surprise me.  Symptoms of hyperthyroid runs in my family.  My oldest sister, before she had ovarian cancer, had Graves Disease.  My older sister had part of her thyroid removed a couple of years ago.  I have many of the symptoms of Graves, including muscle weakness, and a high pulse rate.

So, he’s sending me for testing next month.  Yay.  I swear sometimes I just can’t win for losing.  The good news is that the anemia could be related to the thyroid issue.  So, there’s that.
